TEMPERANCE REFORM.
NATIONAL OPTION. In dealing with ''Liquor and theßevenue " last evening (Mr T Field presiding), the Bev. L. M. Isitt presented a very rosy picture of a happy, contented and prosperous people if they would but vote away what was only a luxury— strong drink. Not only were two millions of money annually "swallowed" by drinkers, but labour was wasted in the manufacture of alcoholic liquors, crime and poverty largely increased — all at a heavy expenae to the country. After "Mr Isitt's address a resolution, proposed by the liev. H 8. QifJ seconded by Mr Donald McGregor, was carried, urging the Premier to send the National Optional Bill to the Legislative Counoil without delay. On the motion of the Bev. F, W. Ohatterton a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mr Isitt.
