The celebration of a child's birthday by Japanese at Froome had a tragic termination. One of tbe guests came Armed with a rifle, a revolver, and a sword, and fcred three shots at a countryman without effect. He then out 'the unfortunate man nearly in two with one sweep of the sword. The murderer reinrned to his own house threatening a constable and the Europeans he met by the wav and then he shot himself dead;
