Tho census returns show that the male population of the colony exceeds the females by about 40,000. There are 3651 Chinamen - and 34 Chinese women, half of that number being in Otago. .. Wellington has more Chinese than any. other Borough. Selwyn is the most populous county, witli nearly 30,000, and Wellington the most S-pulous borough with 37,442. The North land electorates average 12,548 each, and the South Island electorates 10,312.
