Blowing up a Wreck.
[United Press Association.] Greymouth, This Day. Capt Falconer, of the Toipedo Corps, fired the mines which he laid" round the wjeck of the Thurso at noon to-day Great difficulty was experienced owing to the large quantity of drift gravel brought down by recent floods and deposited on and around the barque. In all 2000 pounds of explosives were used, consisting of dynamite, rohunite, and gun cotton. The blast was most successful, the derelict being cleared away as far as the mainmast, which was tht portion that lay jn the fairway. The bo^v will requite a few smaller charges to clear the way, but so far as can be judged at present buccess has been pronounced.
