The Liberals have gained Perth; ' , : . _ Mr Balfour declared in Manchester that Derby bad covered itself with glory. The Tories bad won a 'victory there which would echo through the country. Sir W V Harconrt admitted that he could not conceal the magnitude of his surprise at the defeat. Mr Primrose, who headed the poll, is an old resident of Derby and an employer of labour. Sir W V Harcourt and bis wife were pelted with cabbages and filth while drivmg through Derby.
