Sir Gerge Grey.
The Premier is to ask for a month's leave of absence for Sir George Grey, and in giving notice to this effect he stated that when the Colonial Treasurer saw the veteran in London Sir George spoke confidently of his early return to the colony. This does not agree with what I have already telegraphed to you about "Sir George's resignation heing in the colony. Nevertheless I had my information from a gentleman whose knowledge of what he told me is above suspicion. If Sir George's resignation is not in tbe colony it is because its intended dl-patch from London must havo been postponed after being fully resolved on by himself. In any case though no one grudges Lir George his extended holiday it is a somewhat curious spectacle to see so important an electorate as Auckland City so long unrepresented in the House.
