THE S.S. LILY.
Tbe Lily came into harbour at « o'clock this morning, after a rough experience at the outer anchorage. She proved to be an excellent sea boat, and shipped very little water, in fact some pins which wero on deck wero not injured in any way. Capt. Scully noticed tbe signal " put to sea " run up at thc Lighthouse signal station yester. day afternoon, but ai the anchors were not dragging ho thought he was ju.-t as well off lying at anchor, although ho could have steamed against the gale. At high water last night the sea began to go down, and tbo slapped bad J'opes of crossing tbo bar, but in tho meantime 'tiie t;llcr had carried away through the rudder working heavily. At 2 o'clock this morning one of tlio cables part, d, but the ojAhcv "anchor Jjpld lier'. Captain Scully bad an anxibjis time aiid was up all night. There nine passengers on board, three of whom were ladies, and none of them wero sorry to reach land again. The lost anchor was recovered, the chain, curiously enough, having fouled the other cable. Owing to losing her tiller tbo Lily was unable lo make a (rip to Motueka to-day.
