Christchurch Police Court.

[United Press Association] CHMSTcnunn, This Day. r At the Police Court this morning Thomas Turner on remand, was charged with having attempted to commit suicide. Inspector Broham desired that the charge should be withdrawn, as he was satisfieci that the accused at the time was suffering from hunger' and starvation, and had no intention to destroy himself. The man's friends were also ready to make arrangements for his assistance. The charge was Withdrawn, and Turner was liberated. John Turner Heard, late City Bate Collector, was charged with having stolen £22, money belonging to the City Council. As he 'had only been arrested on the previous day, he was remanded to Tuesday next, bail being allowed; himself in £1(0, and two sureties in £50 each.
