RICHMOND INSTITUTE.
The annual meeting of the subscribers to the Richmond Institute took place on Thursday last, the Mayor, Mr Talbot, in the chair. Mr Cowles, the Secretary, gave an account of the building and furnishing of the new room, which lins lately been added to the premises. Mrs Nightingale had left a sun of money in his hands to lie used for the benefit of the working men of Richmond! this had been placed in the bank. About £8 had been expended in furniture, and the balance, £24 8s Bd, formed the nucleus of the building fund. £4 13s 2d had been handed over by the " P.S.A." Committee ; and Mr Cowles had collected over £35 from various friends. With this amount, the building had been erected ; but about £15 more was required to line and complete the building. Furniture to the value of £40. including an organ, had been supplied partly by the I'.S.A. Committee. Resolved. That a conversazione, with music and refreshments be held shortly to open the new room. The following committee and officers for the ensuing year were then elected :— Committee :— Hon J. W. Barnicoat, Messrs Talbot, Hodson, Fittall, Ellis. MoEaohen, Wanstall, and Holdaway Treasurer : Mr J. Petrie, Secretary Mr E. Cowlea, Auditor, Mr J. Blair, Librarian, Miss H, Croucher.
