The Temmora is now lying in Worser Bay, waiting for a favourable opportunity to begin operations on the new cable which is to be laid across the Straits from Oteronga Bay. near Cape Terawhiti, to White's Bay, By this route a much better bottom will be obtained, and the rooky bottom in liyell Bay, the outlet of the present cables, will be avoided. The new cable U to be a fire-core one, and when it is laid, interruption of telegraphic communication between the two islands will be almost an im possibility. This is the first time that the Terranora has been engaged in the work of laying a new cable, but, given fine weather, (he operations are expected to proceed with out a hitch.
