STEALING FRUIT
To thk Editor of the " Eveninu Maii,. 1 Sir,—Will you kindly allow me a small space in your paper re an oft-repeated nuisance. All fruit, growers know the " übiquitous " boy at this season of the year. If he can be caught the roil of correction effectually administered may prove an antidote for the foolishness in him. But how about bipeds of mature years and larger growth, ni<:l)t prowlers who commit the same depredations when boys are slumbering ? Is there no means of castration for men, who more richly deserve it? Last Friday night between 10 and 11 p.m. two of the above so-called helped themselves from my premises. Now the "Old Book" says "Stolen waters are sweet." I would advise these to study its precepts, ami mend their manners thereby. And as at this date stolen apples are sour, they had better wait a " woe," then leave a visiting card, or in lieu of that find their names enrolled in a book kept in a cortain building near the Government ofiices,—l am, &c, Wainiea Road. E, B.
