BISHOPDALE SKETCHING CLUB.

The exhibition of the Bishopdale Sketching Club in the Camera Club's room was very well attended yesterday afternoon and evening. The room is too small for the display, and when there are a fair number of people in it there is great difficulty in getting about and seeing the pictures. In the afternoon tea was served by the ladies of the Club, and everything was done to make the exhibition pleasant to visitors. A number of the sketches criticised by Colonel Branlill are without names, so that it is impossible to give credit where credit is due. One in black and white particularly deserves praise. Among the exhibitors who give their names Mrs Oldham has some capital sketches, and Miss Nina Jones has landscapes and flower pictures. The sketch of boats is particularly good. Colonel Branlill has some capital little sketches, besides portraits in pastels. Mrs Cooke also exhibits landscapes of scenes at Wai-iti, and Waimea West. Others exhibitors are Mrs Topliss, Miss Harris, Miss Ellen Harris, Miss Sadd, Miss Sunley, Miss Banfield, and Miss Talbot.

Among the Wellington exhibitors the chief are Miss M. Jones and Messrs Baillie, Nairn, and Parsons, but as we said yesterday the Wellington collection cannot be considered truly representative, as it was impossible to send many of the best productions of the year. The Christchurch exhibits are much more numerous and include pictures by Miss Gardiner, Miss Dora Meeson, and Messrs W. W. Gibbs, E. Slater, O. Kidson, and J. Meddon.

The exhibition is open again this afternoon.
