Bx the request of a number of our subscribers, of both town and country, we have reprinted, on the fourth page our special reporter's telegram from Top House. This, together with the inquest, Mrs Wallis's statement and other matters of interest connected with the tragedy, will all be found in to-nights paper, enabling those, who desire to send the information to their friends at a distance to do so. Extra copies can be obtained from this office, or from any of our other numerous agents in both town and country. Ova speoial reporter left town at twenty minutes to four o'clock on Friday afternoon last for Top House, which place was reached at five minutes to eleven o'clock, after a short stay at Foxhill for tea, and a rather perilous drive, occasioned by the darkness and fog, the moon being obscured. T'.j road on the whole was in good condition, and the drive taken under more favourable circumstances would have proved very enjoyable. The major portion of the distance is through barren and hilly country, but when nearing Top House the country somewhat improves, The snow capped peaks of Mount Robert, as seen from the Accommodation House on Saturday morning at sunrise, clear from fog or mist, was a grand sight, and the varied colours of the dense bush surrounding were remarkably fine. A couple of small whales were seen by the Lady Barkly off the Croixelles yesterday morning. They were heading in the direction of the French Pass. Mr Longney of the Tophouse Accommodation House, who is in town, asks us to state that Mr Lane was left in charge of the House, and not Bateman as currently reported. TnE monthly inspection of the Volunteers will take place on Wednesday evening next at 730, The country corps will come to town by train as usual. The twentieth anniversary of the Loyal Marine Lodge is to be celebrated in the Port Hall, on Thursday next, with a conversazione. A capital programme is to be provided, including light refreshments, so no doubt there will be a large attendance. Mb, G. R. Dayman announces that he has taken over the business of general blacksmith, lately carried on by Gorrie & Sons, and is prepared to do all kinds of smithing work at the shortest notice.
