The Appeal Court has confirmed the deoision of Lord Justioe Boweu in favour of the Bank of New Zailand in the action which that institution brought against the London Bank of Mexico and South America a few months ago, The Court also allowed cos s. The original action of tbe Bank of New Zealand was to recover £15 000 from tbe Bink of Mexico and South America for a dishonoured draft dnwn at Dunedin, and when the case was before the Court of Queeu'd Beuoh Lord Justice Bowen gave judgment for the amount claimed, with interest from the date due of bill, December 19tb, 1891, at 4 per oenfr.

The directors of the English, Scottish, and Australian Chartered Bank have slightly modified the reconstruction scheme which will be proceeded with irrespective of the opposition on the part of a number oi Scotch depositors and shareholders. Experts declare that it would be easy to arrange for an amalgamation between the London Chartered Bank of Australia, and the English, Scottish, and Australian Chartered Bank.
