RICHMOND BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The ordinary ruoDtbly meeting of the Itiohmond Borough Counoil was held on Tuesday 18th inst., at 7.80 p.m. Present : The Mayor, (Mr Talbot) in the chair, Ore Shent, Pappp, Best, Crouoher, Fittall, and Harkness. The recently eleoted Crs Bigned the statutory declaration, The minutes of last ordinary meeting and ot special meetings held thereafter were read and con firmed. A letter was read from Messrs Adams and KiDgdon with reference to lease of land at the Reservoir, and it was resolved thnt the Town Glerk Bee them about alterations in tame. It was reported that the culvert at the entrance to Messrs Bird's property had been removed and a bridge placed across the ditch. The Mayor agreed to see Mr Smart with reference to acquiring a strip of hie land Tor the purpose of widening Wesley street. A letter was read from the Stoke Road Board, agreeing to pay half the cost of rebuilding the bridge on Weneley road, at the Borough boundary, It was reßolved that a deputation of the Counoil visit the bridge to deoide how it should be rebuilt. The following tenderH were received for the bridge at the foot of Waverley street : - Oharlea Bleoher £36 15b, W. E. Wilkes £37 18s, F. W. Holdaway & Co £30. It was resolved that Mr Bleoher's tender bo ftceepted, The following tenders were received for i the bridge on Oxford Street :-W. E. Wilkea ! £28 9s, ..Charles Bleoher £31 6i>, F. W. Holdaway £35, It wbb resolved that Mr Wilkea's tender be accepted. The following tender was reooived for the Books Road loan of £600 in debentures of £100 each :— Travellers Rest Lodge, Iliobmond, 3 debentures at £98. It wa* resolved that the tender be accepted. The following tenders were received for carting for ibe ensuing year : — Sutton Bros, 1 horse teams 8s t 2 horse teams i)a 6d per day; H. Fanzelow, jr., 1 horce teams 9s, 2 horse teams 10s 6d per dny. It was resolved that Mcb-hb Sutton Bros' tender be accepted, A letter from various ratepayers with reference to the condition of Dorset street, a letter from Mr F. W. lloldaway with teferenoe to the draining of his property, and ft communication from Mr M- Lammas with reft rence to the drain in Oxford street adjoining hie property, were referred to the Worlu Committee. It was resolved with reference ta the ficquent complaints about borees and ctttle straying on the tstreots, that SergtMajor Pratt be asked whither it is not the local constable's duty to see thut the streets Hie kept dear, Pajmenta were authorised on general account £57 15s. A apsoial meeting was held thereafter, when the resolution of the speoial meeting of 9th August levying general rate was ooofirmed.
