RIWAKA ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Board, at whioh all the members were present, was held on* the 4th uwt. i.< -. I The minutes of the previous monthly meeting having been read and confirmed, accounts for £22 lls 9d were passed for payment.
For gravelling 25 chains on Lodder'e road the tender (103 per chain) of John McLean was accepted, H. Everett and Messrs Hick* mott and Kogan both tendering at 13s 6d per chain.
The correspondence received comprised: — A circular from the Commissioner of Taxes requesting that facilities for inspecting rolls, &o, might be offered to applicants for the office of assessors; from Mr W, Jenkinß, asking that certain repairs might be done on the old Takaka traokj from Mr H. Yorke, with estimate of cost of erecting one line of fence on the new Riwaka Yailey road where it passeß through his property —26 ohains at 13s— £16 18s; from Messrs Fell and Atkinson re Riwaka Valley new road, threatening action in. the Supreme Court for alleged trespass,, and again calling on the Board to take action ob by law required; frqm Messrs R. Pattie and R. Hursthouse, arbitrators for the Board, and Messrs A, Drummond and sons respectively, enclosing award made to Messrs A. Drummond and sons as compensation in the Riwaka Valley new road— amount of award being £289 13s, made up as follows:— 4B7£ chains of fenoing at 9a per chain— £2l9 7a 6d, losa of pasturage #10 5s 6d, and severance £60.
Resolved :— l. That £1 16 abe allowed Mr W. Jenkins for repairs to track. 2. That Mr Yorke be allowed for f enoing at the rate of 12s per ohain. 3. That a memorial to the Governor be prepared, requesting him to proclaim the roads in the fiiwaka Valley, i. That Mr F, Fry be allowed ta out down the willows on the road in little Sydney adjoining his property, 5. Thatnotioa be Berved on all ratepayers with gorse on the roads adjoining their property, to clear and remove the same.
Er R. Pattie waß present and informed tbe Board that the arbitration between Road Board and Messrs Thomas Broß, had broken down, he not having- been able to oome to an agreement with Mr 0. T. Saxfcon. the arbitrator for Messrs Thomaa Bros.
