PARLIAMENTARY ITEMS.
(From our own Correspondent.)
Wellington, September 7.
Legislation of the Session. Notwithstanding that this has been a very talkative session, a large amount of legislation has been eneated ; notably the Electoral Bill, Legislative Council Reform Bill, Female Suffrage Bill, Land. Bill, Mining Bill, Land and Income Assessment Bill. In addition there are a vast number of bills of minor importance and local bills. Estimates and Public Works. On Monday evening the Government proposes to go on with the estimates. The Public Works Statement will be brought down on Tuesday. There will not be any extensive works undertaken in any one district, but generally speaking an effort will be made to extend the various railway lines co as to carry them to what promises to be a more profitable point than at present. Auckland's principal claim appears to be the extension of the Rotorua railway, and this will probably be undertaken ; while Ofago s prinoipal tit-bit will be the extension of the Otago Central. Notice to Quit. The House (Committee deoidedjthia moaning that notioe to quit be given to thesa members of Parliament now lodging in the Parliament Buildings. This inolndes the Premier, the Chairman of Committees of the Legislative Council, and Mr Saunders, but does not apply to the Speaker, who it is necessary should live in the buildings. Exception also ia made to Sir George Grey.
