Towards tbe latter part of last night's meeting there was a disturbance at the back of the Hall, and Mr Levien walking up towards the stage complained to the chairman of the disgraceful proceedings that were going on there, a number of larrikins having brought bags of 'flour whioh they were throwing about to the annoyance of the audience. The Chairman suggested that those in that part of the Theatre should form themselves into a Committee for the purpose of detecting the culprits, who he would see were arrested and charged with assault. It was shameful that a lot of young hoodlums should thus misconduct themselves. Mr Akersten Baid if the door was oloaed he would willingly make one to assist iv arresting them. The constables who were stationed at the door were ordered into the Hall, and a repetition of the nuisance was thus prevented. Thk arrangements, or absence of arrange ■ ments, for conveying the outwards direot mail from Nelson have been the cause of muoh annoyanoe of late. Last month, on a Saturday, after the business houses were olosed, it was notified that the mail would olose that night instead of on the following Tuesday as previously advertised, and on the present occasion the mail will be made up to-morrow for the lonio, whioh leaves Lyttelton next Wednesday, a day earlier than usual. Complaints are being made on all sidea of the great inconvenience oouasionei by these irregularities. A special meeting of the members of the Fire Brigade was held last night to oonsider a letter inviting ibem to confer with the Oity Council this evening on the question of the subsidy. After some disoussion the deoision wae arrived at that it was not the business of the Brigade to suggest how or by whom ihe funds required for its maintenance should be contributed, it being quite aumoient ihat they should give their time and services gratuitously without naviug to beg for a maintenance fund. Should the means ior the eupporc of the Brigade be not forthcoming, the members would aooept it bb an intimation tbat their set vices were no longer required. It wasreßolved that a letter be addressed to the City Counoil giving expression to the abova. A meeting of the Nelson Regatta Committee was held last evening, when it was deoided that entries will olose at 9 o'clock on the 19fch inst, at the Ship Hotel. In rowing raoes it was deoided that if three boats did not start, no seoond prize would be awarded. All crews, except the winners of tbe two senior races, wili be allowed to compete for the Ladies Plate. It was also resolved to invite t.-nders for Bands, The annual concert in oonneotion with the Athletic Crioket Club will be held, this evening in the All Saints School-room. From the programme published yesterday it will be seen that the leading amateurs, as well as Herr Von Zimmermann have promised to take part, so that a musical evening of a very enjoyable nature may be anticipated. A Home Missionary meeting will be held in St John's Churoh this evening, when ad™ dresses will be delivered by the Revs H. Bull and J. G. Brooke and Mr Litchfield J.P. of Blenheim. The ohoir are especially requested to attend. A meeting of the Aoolimatisation Sooiety will be held this evening, when a full attendance of members is requested. Business: Importation of Game and Fish, and appoint ment of rangers etc. On Thursday evening next a leoture will be given by the Rev S. Gibson on Fiji and the Fijians. A speoial meeting of the members of the Loyal Wakatu Juvenile Lodge will be held this evening at seven o'clock. Members absenting themselves will be fined. The Wesleyan Churoh picnic, which will be held to-morrow at Riohmond promises to be a big success. The grounds of Mr Thomas Holdaway have been scoured, and the tickets have been selling rapidly. The Fire Brigade Band will be in attendance, and there will be games of all descriptions during the afternoon. A special excursion train will leave Riohmond at 7 25 arriving in town about eight o'clock. Tickets for the train and admission to the grounds oan be obtained at the railway station. The train leaves Nelson for Richmond at two o'olook. Mr John Kerr will address the electors at the Port Hall this evening at eight o'olook. Mr J. Knott has held some very sucoessf nl Temperance meetings in the country. At Stoke 28 pledges were taken, and at Wakefield 27. He will deliver an address on behalf of the Women's Christian Temperance I Union in the Y.M.O.A. Room to-morrow ' afternoon, to whioh all women are invited. A wobk whioh promises to be a welcome addition to our stook of oolonial literature will shortly be issued from tho press Tbis will be an edition de luxe of the best of Mr Thomas Braoken's numerous productions, serious and humouroua, in prose and verse. The volume will be illustrated by many of the leading New Zealand artists, inoluding Mrs Captain Main (late Miss Kate Sperry) whoae Maori paintings are so muoh appreciated. The art work is being exeouted in sepia by a leading firm in Leipsio, Germany. Harkness' Oommittee will meet all the Committee Room, Bridge Street, this evening at half past seven, when a full attendance is requested. In the Supreme Court in chambers before the Registrar in the matter of the will of I John Meroer, on the motion of Mr Pitt probate was granted to Miohael Fitzgerald O Brien and Celeste Theresa Satherley the executors. In the matter of the will of Jebez Hill, on the motion of Mr Pitt probate was granted to Charlotte Hill the executrix named in the will. Good competition prevailed for superior wools suitable for Amerioan demand, and values are unchanged from our last sales, Greasy wools sold up to 12Jd.
