He took the money in the absence of the postmaster, and tried to ride off on a horse but was detected. An information hns been laid against two meu for assaulting free labourers on Satur-* day. Christchurch, September 28, It was rumoured that ArthiiL' Olampett arrived here on Friday last, but he has not shown in public. Mr Alfred Saunders when addressing the electors at Kirwee on Friday night, strongly condemned the present Government, and declared that if he was again returned to Parliament he would not support the present Ministry. September 29. A petition to Parliament prayiDg for the franchise to be granted to women is being largely circulated in Christchurch.
