Sydney, December 21. , Parliament haa been, prorogued. December 22. In conneotion with the complaint reoeived from New Zealand that the New South Wales Government has not replied relative to the proposed duplication of tha New Zea. j land cable, New Zealand is likewise a transgressor Tn nob replying to Sir Henry Parkes' Federation communication. The Gable Conference will deal with the question of the duplication of the New Zealand Cable Company to morrow. The Premier, personally, is not disposed to do anything in the matter. Adelaide, December 23. D. Cockburn states that the South Australian Government will not support any scheme for cutting the throat of the , Federal Council. The real practical objeojection to Sir Henry Parkes' proposals lay in the fact that South Australia cannot surrender her protective polioy. Sir Henry Parkes' scheme was an impossible ono while Provincial protection was maintained. He thinks it was a mistake for Victoria to * initiate a protection polioy, but her having done so compelled her neighbors in self defence to adopt the same policy, (Received Deo. 24, at 1 p.m.) Sydney, December 24< No actual decision has been arrived at by the Government with regard to the duplicate cable, but it is understood that the proposals of the Cable Company are not regarded with favor, as the conditions demand praotioally amount to a monopoly.
