Gisborne, June 14, A young man named Evans had a narrow escape from being killed this morning. He was opening a large safe in the corner of Shelton and Cos. office with a lighted match in his hand when an explosion of gas oc« curred, and he was thrown heavily across the room and severely burned about the face. The gas had not been turned off at night and the explosion was thus caused.
