COUNCIL.
Wellinoton, Deo. 20. The Counoil met at 230. The report pf the managers of tbe Free Conference of both Houses oa the Land Bill was presented and agreed to. The Government Railways Bill waa read a tbird time and passed. The Otago Central Railway Bill was discharged from the Order Paper, on the motion of Mr Millar who undertook to draft a Bill dealing with a subject during the reoess. The Otago Harbor Bill was committed, reported, and passed its final stages. The Pukekohe Borough Bill was committed, reported, and passed all its stages. TheJjFisheries Conservation Bill was real a first time and the Council at 4*35 adjourned to 7 30.* The Counoil resumed at 7-30. The Taranaki West Licensing Bill and Publio Reserves Bill were read a first time, the second readings being made an order for next day. The Attorney- General explained tbat these Bills wou'cl cot ba p:in'ed till nex day. Several other Bills were also expected down shortly but he thought it would be waste of time to sit later that evening. He therefore proposed that tbe Council at its rising adjourn to next day at 1030. A message was received from the House intimating that the House bad agreed to the report of the Free Conference on the Land Bill, and had also agreed to the Council's amendments in the Wellington College and Girls High School Bill, and also to the Council's amendments in the District Drainage Bill and those in the Building Societies Bill. The Council at 748 adjourned to 10-30 next day.
