THE CITY DRAINAGE.

To the Editor ov the Evening Maij,."

Sir.— lt seems most unfair that Mr Akerslen ehould use the'posifcion of a Councillor fco sling bo many columns of ink over Mr Hay and tho competition for the drainage scheme. His numerous misfcatements are nob likely to influence the Council at their next meeting ; still there is an element of unfairness in the endeavors to influence them. His efforts are also unnecessary, because the point to be Bettled first by the Council is tbe awarding of the premiums. Tbey cannot honorably eet „s>de Mr Hay's report and letters, nor yot refuse to listen to public opinion wbich is so unanimously against them, as clearly pointed out by yourself and your contemporary.— Yours &c,

Citizen,
