We take the following from the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile circular, dated London, July 1 :— Nbw Zeai^nd Hemp.-— The market during the past fortnight has been quiet, and in the face of recent arrivals, values generally are easier. Manilla rules oa the spot at £30 to *30 5s per ton for fair current, whilst to arrive £26 10s per ton o.i,f. is asked, with Buyers at £26 per ton. Sisal is quoted at £30 to £30 10s per ton ex store, Liverpool, but only a limited business has been passing. At publio auotions on 23rd ultimo 150 bales ordinary medium New Zealand were offered and withdrawn, the whole being, however, disposed of after the sale at from £25 to £25 Cs per ton; 9 bales tow sold at £11 5s per ton. Of 469 bales hemp and 423 bales tow brought forward on 29th ultimo, 250 bales ordinary to good medium were oleared under the hammer at from £25 to £25 5s per ton, the remainder being brought in. We quote :-Superior soft, bright hemp, £27 to £27 10s per ton ; Good quality and well cleaned, £26 to £26 10s; Medium, fair to good, £25 to £25 10s; Common, coarse I and Btrawy, nominally £23. Hops.—Very little business has been passing during the fortnight, but values have remained firm. The condition of the crops here continues fairly satisfactory, but the absence of rain, and the occasional prevalence of cold drying winds, have tended i a C £*i _,, th » ._ growfch of the P^nts.
