(ifr^Btt our own Correspondent.)! ' \-[£y Telegraph.} The weekly Teturns are :—^Welcome, 605 ozs (dividend payable to-morrow) ; Alpine 512 ozs ; Keep-it-Dark, 328 ozs. The Venug Company are having a. general cleaning v to-day. It is expected that besides paying off all liabilities, a dividend will be declared. No other returns are to hand. The railway question monopolises the attention of all classes* of the community to the exclusion of almost every other subject, telegrams having been received from Nelson, from Wellington, from Sir Julius Yogel, and other reliable sources, it is generally admitted there is something really in it this time more than mere ta'k. There can be little doubt but that the starting of this important work would do much towards relieving the depression existing throughout the colony. The Warden's Court wrs occupied some eight boars over a jumping case, namely, the Homeward Bound Company's lease, the market value of .wbich is about £10,000. Although: voluminous evidence was taken thero was nothing really to justify the action, and the Warden intimated that such was his own opirion. Another case, the Hopeful Tribute party v. the Welcome Company staDds adjourned until the next Court day, the Warden taking time to consider an application for a nonsuit. His Worship, however, stated that it appeared to him fatal to the plaintiff's case. Oar mines continue looking well and considering the scarcity of money, the share market is fairly active. Stocks in the leading lines. being firmly held.
