A CORRECTION.
To the Editor op the " Evening Mail." Slit, — According to your report at the fewremarks tipon the railway contract which I made in. the Council oil Friday night I appear to have stated that the present arrangements with the Syndicate include an alteration in the main contract which must be submitted to Parliament. As this statement, if micorrected, may do mischief, will you alter it to say that so far as I am aware no such submission will be necessary. Certain amendments somewhat of the nature already indicated in your columns were some time ago suggested as part of the scheme, but whether these or any of them form part of tho arrangements now concluded Ido not know. 1 have not heard, however, that any objection has been taken to the power of our Delegates to enter into a binding contract, as I should naturally have expected if the conditions they wore agreeing to had been in any way " ultra vires." — Yours &c, Charles Y. Fell.
