London, April 17. The Land Purchase Bill was introduced and raad for the first time in the House of Commons yesterday. The measure provides that the Irish Parliament shall purchase lands, paying for them in bonds at par, bearing three per cent interest. The total amount issuable is fifty million pounds during three years. The sale price of land is to be based on a twenty years purchase calculated on judicial rental of properties during the year 1885. The mansions and demesnes are not touched by the Bill. Expropriation is to be compulsory in disaffected districts, and optional elsewhere. The Press generally condemns Mr Gladstone's scheme for land purchase in Ireland. The Greek Government has formulated a demand for the execution by the Great Powers of the provisions of the Treaty of Berlin. Tne direotors of the Orient Company h&ve declared a dividend for the past half year, at the rate of 5 per cent per annum, and carry forward to the reserve fund £12,000. New Zealand frozen mutton remains at 5Jd to s£d. At yesterday's wool gales a catalogue of 8500 bales was offered to a weak market. Today the tone was animated and 9600 bales were submitted.
