Melbourne, Thursday. A caucus of members of the Opposition has been held, at which it was resolved to hold a mass meeting in conjunction with the League in order to condemn Mr Service's Bill for the Reform of the Constitution, now before the Assembly. The Union Company's steamship Ringarooma sailed for the Bluff yesterday. Arrived: Union Company's steamer Te Anau, from Bluff. In the action Bailliere v. Doctor Beaney, being a claim for remuneration for obtaining Sailed: Union Company's steamer Albion for New Zealand. Beaney a commission to inspect the hospitals of Europe, a verdict for the defendant was returned.
Adelaide, Thursday. Parliament was opened to-day by the Governor who, in his speech on the occasion, announced that Bills to amend the Cocstitution, for increasing the numbers of members in the Council and Assembly, for altering the boundaries of electoral districts, for the amendment of the Insolvency and Education Acts, and other measures of merely local interest would be introduced during the session.
