We are informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Eucal* ptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition againßt the public in such a casa is concerned, the consequences would not bs serious ; but; as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts : — The eucalyptus oil is recorJed to be of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifeßtß a drawing, blistering effect upon the sl<in. Any blibtering brought on by the application ct * medicament must increase inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diphtheria, croup, sprains, etc., the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper. An application of tbe oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased • The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact tbat the oil is a resinous product equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight ; our extract consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price beiDg twenty-four shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, tbe genuine article is only made up in half-ounce and one-ounce vials ; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature.
