Captain R. A. Edwin reports :— " Watch barometer: bad weather approaching, any direction between north and west and southwest. Glass rising." The Patea leaves for Patea at II a.m. tomorrow. The Lady Barkly returned from Golden Bay last night. The Murray leaves Greymouth for Westport and Nelson this afternoon. " The Wallace leaves for West Coast ports this afternoon. The schooner Spray, which was lying at Tonga at the latter end of last week, arrived at Wellington on Thursday. • The Richard and Mary is announced to sail for Greymouth on Wednesday next. • Steam was got up on board the Charles Edward this afternoon with a view of testing her new boiler. ■ The Grafton is expected to arrive here from Wellington on Tuesday morning, and sails for Wellington at 6 p.m. same day. The Wellington arrived at Wellington this ■morning. She leaves there on Monday afternoon, will arrive here on Tuesday morning, and sail for Picton and Wellington at 4 pm. same day. There appears to be a scarcity of shipping in Wellington just now. The only steamer of any importance alongside the wharf there on Thursday was the Taiaroa. The Taiaroa ai rived in harbor at 1 p.m. to-day, having left Picton afc 2-30 a.m. She experienced some dirty weather during the night, and came to an anchor for a couple of hours. The Taiaroa sails for Taranaki and Manukau at 4 p.m. The following is a list of the passengers by the Wellington, which sailed for Picton and Wellingtou yesterday afternoon : — Misses Trolove, Reeves, Bailey, Tietjen, Mesdames Mowat Short, McMahon. Searle and 5 children, Mr and Mrs Spierling, Capt Webb, Messrs Wymond, Hunter, Nelson, Searle, Carroll, Ndrby, H. Hounsell, Reeves, and Bolton. There are as yet no signs of the Chaudiere, now 1 14 days out from London. She is not the only vessel that is overdue from London, as we learn tbat severai ships which left '-about the, same time as she did, bound for ; different New Zealand ports have nofc yet .reached their destinations. Most of the vessels which have arrived from the old country lately have extended their voyages ' to over 100 days, and in some instances to a considerable period beyond that time, so that it cannot [be expected of the Chaudiere, which.is by no means a clipper, to perform the voyage in less time than vessels with greater pretensions to sailing.
