He spoke well for two hours, there being; about 70 people presentj Mr Thorpe in the, chair. He said that he was a strong opponent of the. present Government, and predicted its speedy downfall next sesBion., -He spblce' du'the Electoral, Land! Tax, Customs Tariff, Beer Tax, Public Works, Intestate ISstatesj 'and Sheep /kills. An unanimous vote of confidence was accorded to him, and the extract from Tuesday's :Majl referring to his speech on the railway question was i read, Resolutions Were passed approving of his opposition to the) Laud Tax and Railways Construction Bills. : ,MrHursthouso.thanked .them heartily and Baid he felt proud of the honor done to him bj- the unanimity, of the vote of confidence.
