COLLEGE EXHIBITIONS.

The examination of candidates for the two exhibitions offered for competition by the College Governors to the pupils at the Government schools took place last week with the following result: —

A Railway is to be made across the Crimea, between Sebastopol and Losova, a station on the Tagaurog-Charkoff railway . The portion of the line between Sebastopol and Simpheropol is to be constructed by tbe Crown at its own expense, and the working companies of the regiments on the spot are to be employed in making the embankments next month. The other portion of the line, between Simpheropol and Losova, is to be given up to a private company, but the period at which the concession will be issued is not yet fixed. The works undertaken by the Crown will probably be very expensive, as the country through which the line is to pass is hilly. A gefat scientific work has been completed, about which little has been said in the papers. The new dock for Bermuda — a vast structure 400 feet long and 80 feet deep — has been successfully taken across the ocean. Two first-class steamerc drew the dock in tow, a smaller one sailing behind to prevent her lurching too far.
