The Late Captain Fearon. — Many of our readers would observe with a heavy heart the notice which appeared in our yesterday's issue, of the cLaih of n gentleman who was knojyu f«r and >vide through this and the neighboring province of Marlborough, and who was highly respected, we mijjlit almost say heloved. hy all who had the privilege of hi* acquaintance. Captain Fearon arrived here frmn Euti]and in the year 1843, and at once took up his residence in Motueka, where with his family he has lived ever since. If his loss will be regretted by mere casual acquaintances, how much more will this be the case with those amongst whom he has resided for a quarter of a century, aud to whom he had endeared himself hy his kiudly genial manner, his never- tailing sympathy with those who were in trouble or distress, aud the unostentatious charity which he never failed to bestow on any object that he deemed deserving of it. In him the Church of England has lost a liberal supporter, aud in fact it would be difficult to say who in Nelson or its neighborhood does not. feel that, in Edward Fearon they have lost a friend who is not i-asily to be replaced. His widow and cliiMreu niay feel sure that the people of Nelson at large, and more particularly ihe older settlers, most heartily sympathise with them iv their heavy bereavement.
