Neat Zeala.^ Statistics. — We have to acknowledge the receipt from the Regi trar-General of the Statistics of New Zealand for 1868. Organ Committee. — A meeting of the Committee was held last uight, when the Secretary produced the accounts of the late concert, which showed the gross receipts to have been £64 25., the expenses being £11 145., thus leaving a balance of £52 Bs. to the fund. A vote of thanks to Mr. Walcot, Mrs. Scaife, and those who kindly rendered their assistance at the concert, was passed unanimously. It was resolved that the subscriptions be at once collected, in order that the organ may be sent for by the next mail. Wang-apeka Land Sales. — A meeting was held at Wakefield ou Mondny evening, for the purpose of memorialising the General Government on the sale of auriferous lands at Wangiipeka, Mr. Chattock in the chair. The memorial, which stated that the land sold was within the boundary of the South-west Goldfields. and also that tlie land purchased by Culliford had been improperly disposed of as it was known to be auriferous, was read and agreed to, and about 50 signatures were at once appended to it. It was then resolved that a^telegram should be sent to Mr. Fox acquaintiug him with the action taken by the miners. JSELSON YOLTJNTEER ARTILLERY COSIPANY. — A meeting of the above company whs held at McGee's Hotel, on Saturday evening for the purpose of electing a second lieutenant in the place of Lieut. McCabe, resigned. Sergeant Sadd was proposed by Gunner Barnett, and Guuner Thos. Garrard by Sergeant Smith. After a few remarks from Captain Pitt the election took place with the following results : — Sergeant Sadd 10 Gunner Thos. Garrard ... 11 Captain Pitt then declared Mr. T. Garrard to be duly elected.
