Murder in Lyttelton. — An inquest has been held on the body of G-eorgiana Smyth, who was found dead in her bed, and a verdict of " Wilful Murder" returned against her husband. The medical testimony proved that death was caused by suffocation, accelerated by blows on the head. Subscription for the Poverty Bay Monument. — At a public meeting of the Poverty Bay settlers it was resolved to obtain subscriptions in the principal places of New Zealand to erect a Monument in memory of the sufferers in the Poverty Bay massacre. The subscriptions are not to exceed half-a-crown.
