I | . | r\. Before J. Sharp, Esq., R.M. This Day. William Taylor was charged with unlawfully assaulting and beating George Witney, of Nelson, laborer. Mr. Kingdon appeared for the prisoner. C. E. Cotterell sworn: On Tuesday eveuin» last I was called in to see Witney. I found him suffering great pain under the right arm and breathing with difficulty. On examination I found that some of his ribs were brokeu, but I have been unable to ascertain how many. I believe the blow to have been struck with something harder than the fist. He is unable to attend to-day, but possibly he may do so on Monday. Prisoner was remanded until Monday; Mv. Kiagdon's application for bail being refused.
