Hitherto they have uot succeed in finding gold iv payable quantities although the color was to be had almost everywhere they tried in the creeks, but nothing could be found above water level, thus showing that what gold there was must have travelled from some distance, one piece, indeed, weighing about _Jdwt. showed every appearance of having been exposed to the action of water for a considerable time, being much worn at the edges. The party have now shifted their ground and report very favorably of the appearance of the country in which they are about to commence operations.
