Claim for £31 4s. for extra work done, in building a inaltbouse. Mr. Kingdon appeared for plaintiffs. The defence set up was thatlhe original contract not having been, completed, defendant was entitled to withhold the money until the work was finished. The contract was produced by defendent but owing to the stamp being cancelled by a cross only and not by the initials of the contracting parties, the document was held to be invalid, and judgment was dven for plaintiffs, for £21 17s and costs.
