CORRESPONDENCE.

- %* We are deßirous of affording every reasonable I facility for the discussion of public subjects; .but it must be understood that we are in no way responsible for the opinions expressed by correspouclcnts. TotheEditoh of the Nelson Evening Maix.. Sir,— ln common with the rest of "woman kind, I am so grateful to you for throwing open " Anybody's Column " to enquiring minds. My sister Femmina and I study all the political and literary papers diligently, in order to be able to do our duty conscientiously as electors as soon as her unanswerable pamphlet (An Appeal to the Men of New Zealand : Nelson : J. Hounsell,) . has produced its destined effect on Parliament, and we are put at last on an equal footing with the duskier and stupider sex. But we meet with stumbling-blocks sometimes in the path of knowledge, and must trust to the courtesy of man-kind to stoop and thrust them aside, which, of. course, is nothing more than their duty. Femmina and I came to an obstacle of this kind this morning, when reading the review of the Judge's lectui'e in the Examiner. I mean this expression :, " The pre-established harmony of seibruity." We have looked for this new word in twelve dictionaries, but can't find it many. But as a man is a wiser thing than a book, and as an editor is more learned than other men, and knows everything, I am sure you will be able to tell, us all about seibruity. My brother says he thinks the devil is in it — meaning, of coarse, the printer's devil, but you know best. Thankiug you beforehand for your kind help, I remain, Yours gratefully, AzURINA STOCKINA.' Nelson, August 18th. £We- confess to being in a difficulty with regard to the solution of this problem but trust that some of our correspondents will be able to find an answer prior to the publication of our next " Anybody's Column ." — Ed.
