CAPTURE OF A LARGE BODY OF REBELS. (FROM OUK OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Wellington, June 17, 10-47 a.m. The Wanganui Times says tbat Mr. Booth arrived in town last evening, briuging the news, that the expedition up the Patea river had succeeded in Capturing the rebel chief Tairoa, together with 46 men, and 76 womeu and children. The men were all armed but were short of ammunition. No resistance was offered. The whole of them were brought down to Patea yesterday in twenty canoes which were looted. Mr. Booth comes down to obtain instructions from the Government relative to the provisions and to contract for supplies of food and clothing. Next to Titoko Waru, Tairoa is the greatest rebel in the district, and shouid have been shown no quarter.
