SALTWATER BRIDGE.
To THE EDITOK OF THE NELSON EVENING MAIL. Sir. — I was at a loss for some time to under- I •stand the meaning of your correspondent's rremarks relating to the Salt Water Bridge. Does Mr. Jacobson call a piece of dry wall on the Haven Road, a part of the Bridge, or does he mean to infer that because a piece of dry stone •wall has given way, therefore the bridge has given •way. If my memory is correct, they were two separate contracts, and I am sure the bridge itself reflects credit upon the Surveyor and contractor, and further I am of opinion that the wall also would have been as good a job as the bridge, if the specification had been carried out as recom;inended by the Surveyor. I am &c, 26th May, 1869. Stone Wall.
