The Nelson Evening Mail. FRIDAY, APRIL 30, 1869. LATEST FROM THE FRONT. TITO KOWARU ADVANCING ON PATEA.

(By Electric Telegrah.) (from our own correspondent.) Wellington, Wednesday. Later and somewhat alarming news has just been received from Waoganui. Mr Commissioner Parris has received from Patea the warning that Tito Kowaru is advancing to attack that place at the head of five hundred men. Great fears are entertained as to the practicability of our force holding Patea, as, if Tito Kowaru marched to Waitotara, supplies could be cut off. The Ngatiporos wish to go away, but, under, the circumstances, they cannot.— Westport Times, April 29.
