This Mermaid, w,hich usually leaves Lyttelton with some specimens of our native birda, this time sails with an unusual number, including =_ome tuis, •which aye highly prized iv -England, but are found very difficult to transport. A cage, however, has been provided for their reception, after the model used by Captain Stevens iv bringing out blackbirds and thrushes. A model cage has a'so been provided for the swamp hens, aa being the best {-suited for bringing out English partridges, A few paradise and a blue mountain duck, and twx> varieties of falcons have been sent as exchanges. .- — Hokitika News.
