CORRESPONDENCE.

To the Editor of the Nelson EvENnm Mah,. Sir —Can you tell mo who is the Joshua that has commanded the sun to stand still in the heavens ? Is it the Governor, or Mr Stafford, or who is it? I confine my speculation to residents in Wellington, because I believe some one there must be gifted with this supernatural power, as an, order was not long since issued that Empire City time was to be kept at all the stations, and I have observed that the clock at oar Telegraph Office has for some days past been proclaiming to the public that it is out of its power to move its hands beyond five mi-nates to nine. People say that you have n good deal of influence if you would oniy use it; do you think, therefore, that you could persuade the head of the Telegraph department here, to ask the Provincial Secretary, to suggest to the Superintendent that he should address the Colonial Secretary on the subject, and intimate to him that he should request the Inspector of Telegraphs to hint to the Postmaster-General that it would be a convenience to the people of Nelson if Joshua would grant permission to the sun to start off upon his rounds again, and that, if such an arrangement could he effected without detriment to the public service, an immediate notice should be telegraphed to one of the clerks in Nelson instructing him to wind up his clock, and once more to allow it to be a faithful indicator of the time of day. Yours, etc;, VIII. 55.
