This journey concludes his contract, a cy-camstance much to Be regretted, aa, under the new contract, the course of post will be increased from 3, or at the most, 4 days to 11 1 a service which will be of little use to this part of the province. On the 25th October, we learn from the "Cape papers, the survivors from the wreck •of'the Bosphorus, which took place on the ••Slst, arrived at Port Elizabeth. The Bosphorus was wrecked five miles west of Slange River, and 30 miles of Humansdorp, on the outer reef of the Zitzikamma. She struck at 1 a.m., and held together -till 6 a.m., when she parted lengthwise, and precipitated everyone into the sea, which was breaking over hertopmast heads, with the exception of the first oflicer, who, with the second, had volunteered to ;get a line ashore with the only remaining boat, but It was stove in after leaving the vessel, and they struggled ashore anyhow. The "vessel was going full speed, with sails set, when she struck. Forty-eight men drowned, including four engineers and the fourth officer. Lieutenant Baker, R.N., the first officer (Dunn), the second officer {Ainseoe), the third officer ihe. -captain, and 33 men, vere saved, though badly bruised, and many of them almost naked, having had to reach the shore the best way they could on pieces of wreck and : the like. The Bosphorus had ohly been built about two ,years,"and was classed for twelve years in :i-loyd*s iiet, P She. was engaged fofc;she Abyssinian expedition,' and was- laden with ships' stores," and was on her way. ronnd to Algoat Bay for coal.
