THE COMPETITION for RIFLE PRIZES to be given by the Provincial Government of Nelson,' for the year 1868, will commence on TUESDAY, the Bth day of Decemtar next. On this occasion, THIRTEEN RIFLES will be given, viz.": — Rifles. No. 1 City Rifles 3 Waimea West Rifles ... 3 Nelson Artillery ... a , Wakapuaka Artillery ... .'. 2 Cadets .... .... ■■• 2 The first four Companies will fire at ranges, of 300, 400, and 500 yards, five shots at each range. Target, 6 ft. by 6 ft. The Cadets will fire at ranges of 100, 150, and 200 yards. Targets, 6 ft. by 4 ft. Any position, without artificial rest. The Rules and Regulations adopted for the last General Government Prizes, in other respects tb be ftrictly adhered to. No prize will* be given to any person who does not score 30 points. ' No person will be allowed to compete for these prizes whose name is- not on the present roll. No person will be entitled to one of these prizes who has already won a Provincial Government Prize Rifl». CHAMPIONSHIP; " v A handsome REVOLVER will be given as a Champion Prize, and may be shot for by three from each Company who score the highest number of points when competing for the Prize Hifies, and by the winners of previous prizes, given by the Provincial Government whose names are on the present roll. The firing for the rifles will take place on the respective practice grounds of each Company, commencing at 9 a.m. The firing for the Championship will take place on the City shooting-ground, on TUESDAY, the . 15th day of December, under the superintendence of the Adjutant. Ranges, 30 >, 400, and 500 yards. Target, 6 ft. by 4 ft. AU differences as to points will be decided by the Commanding Officers, who will superintend the firing of their respective companies.
