KESIOENT MAGISTRATE'S COUJiT. (Beiore J. Sharp, Esq., lt.M.) Monday, November 23. Matilda Godbaz was charged with having committed an assault upon Mury Robinson on the 18th inst. It appeared from ihe evidence that the litigants lived near each other, in a right-of-way off Bridge-street, and on the afternoon in question the defendant had visited the complainant's house, and after threatening to chastise the complainant's children if they threw stones at her housp, us= d very abusive languagrf and threw stones at the complainuut, one of which struck her on the back. The offence was fully proved, aud the defendant, was lined £l and costs. John Wheut was charged with allowing liquor to be drunk at the Priuce Albert Hotel on the night of Sjuday the Bth iust., contrary io the provisions of tie Licensing Act, 1857. The case had been adjourned from Saturday last, for the production of further evidence. The informant, Evan Lloyd, had stated that the house was open all the dav to customers, up to 20 minutes to 10 o'clock p.m., aud that he had seen the defendant baud a glass of beer to a mau named WMsou after 9 o'clock that night. On the secoud hearing of the case on Monday, Wilson swore positively that he had called at the Prince Albeit between 1 nnd 2 o'clock on Sunday the Sth inst, and had been refused drink, and on calling again the same day between 8 and 9 o'clock the landlord again refused to supply him. This latter evidence was confirmed by William Colimao, who was in the house ut the time, and the case was dismissed.
