Superintendent's Office, Nelson, August 27, 1868. rriHE Superintendent directs it to be notified, X that by the Harbor and Quarantine Regulations for the Ports of New Zealand, which come into force on the Ist of September next, every person who shall be in charge of any Vessel or Boat, whether decked or undecked, Plying for Hire in any part of the Colony, 6hall obtain from the Superintendent of the Province in which the said Vessel or Boat is intended to Ply, a License to Ply for Hire, and every Boat used for the purpose of Carrying Passengers, Cargo, Ballast, or Water-tanks, must also be duly Licensed. The Superintendent also directs it to be notified that he has appointed James S. Cross, Harbor-master, and James P. Lowe, Second Pilot, to be Inspectors of Boats at the Port of Nelson; and Samuel A. Leech, and Francis Harris, to be Inspectors of Boats for the Port of Westport; and no License can be issued to any Boat until a Certificate from the Inspectors has been granted.
