Wellington, August 15, 11.25 a.m. A sharp [shock of an earthquake was experienced here a few minutes before 10 o'clock. 3 p.m The tide has been unusually low, and more severe shocks are anticipated. Christchurch, 11.45 a.m.

The most severe earthquake shock ever felt in this province took place this niorning, at 10 o'clock. It passed from West to East. .
