The Nelson Evening Mail. THURSDAY, AUGUST 6, 1868. TELEGRAPHIC INTELLIGENCE.
Wellington, August 6. 1.50 p.m. The debate on Mr Fox's motion was resumed last night by Mr Harrison, who confined his remarks to Westland, and brought forward figures to prove that Westland was less extravagant than the •older provinces. He did not intend to interfere with ProTincialisra, and approved of the County Council system. There was something so contaminating in Provincialism, that no person could hold office under it without going in the old groove. He would support the Government as long as he thought their policy accorded with the principles of local self-government. I : Messrs George Graham, B unny , Borlase, Cox, and A. Clark followed, and the debate was again adjourned.
